Melo Music & Audio Player — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-22

Melo Music & Audio Player (“we”, “the app”) is a local music player: it plays audio files that are already stored on your device. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

1. What we collect

Your music library: none of it is collected by us. Melo reads the audio files already on your device (title, artist, album, duration, and similar metadata) so it can build your library and play your music. All library scanning and playback processing happens entirely on your device. The app has no account system and no backend server — your audio files and their metadata are never uploaded anywhere.

Advertising ID: the app shows ads via Google AdMob. To do this, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK collects your device’s Advertising ID and shares it with Google for ad serving and measurement. See Google’s advertising & measurement policy for what Google does with it. You can reset or opt out of ad personalization any time from Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, and users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland can withdraw ad-personalization consent from in-app Settings → Ad privacy options.

We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or the contents of your audio files.

2. Third-party services: Google AdMob

Melo uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (including your Advertising ID) to serve and measure ads. Review Google’s policy at the link above for details on what Google collects and how it’s used.

3. Permissions we request and why

Permission Why
Read audio / storage Let the app scan your device for audio files and play them
Internet / network state Required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to request and show ads
Advertising ID Required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for ad serving/measurement

None of these are used to read, inspect, or transmit the contents of your audio files off the device.

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, the app asks for ad consent using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before requesting any ad or initializing the ads SDK. You can change your choice any time from Settings → Ad privacy options.

5. Data retention & deletion

We don’t operate a server and don’t hold an account for you, so there is nothing on our end to delete. Your music library and playback data (like playlists and favorites) live only on your device and can be cleared like any other app data. To stop ad personalization, use Android’s device-level Ad settings or the in-app Ad privacy options above.

6. Sharing

We do not sell or share personal data with third parties. The only data shared with a third party is the Advertising ID, shared with Google as described in Section 2.

7. Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children and is not part of Google Play Families.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top.
